About Us

Welcome to the New England Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons.

The mission of the New England Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons is to advance the field by providing an opportunity for members of the profession to meet in discussion around methods of diagnosis, and treatment of diseases of the colon, rectum, and anus, and to bring to that discussion their observations and scholarly work. Just as important, the Society seeks to enhance fellowship among New England colorectal surgeons and to educate and engage surgical trainees.

The New England Society, established in 1937, is one of the oldest regional societies of the specialty of colon and rectal surgery. It has an active and collegial membership that uses the Society for collaborating on clinical research projects as illustrated by a recent publication in the Diseases of the Colon and Rectum. Herein we highlight the activities of our Society, and provide access to the scholarly work that is presented at our annual meeting.

The Society holds an annual, two day meeting, usually in May or June, at resort locations throughout New England. This site also contains pre-registration information for the upcoming meeting as well as an abstract submission form. We welcome everyone’s participation. We are in the process up updating this website. Beginning mid-year we will feature abstracts of the top three paper presentations from previous meetings.

The Society welcomes membership applications from anyone who has a committed interest in the field, including members of the National Society, residents in colorectal fellowship programs or general surgery programs, and allied health professionals. This site contains applications for membership, which can be completed and sent to the Society’s coordinator.
